Exchange Programmes

The ULg, a University with a European future

Since September 2004, the University of Liège has been inscribed in the ‘Bologna Process’ and is progressively putting in place a course structure based on the use of a universal vocabulary (Bachelors, Masters, Doctorate), an intensification of exchange programmes, internal mobility and transition programmes from and to other institutions, and a valorisation of acquired knowledge and skills in a modular system, the credits.

The "Bologna Process" is a new opportunity for the University of Liège to ensure its study programmes gain recognition and visibility in Europe, to attract foreign students and researchers through its doors. The integration of the University of Liège within the European Higher Education Area will enable you to better benefit from European mobility programmes with the aim of rounding and out and completing your education, and then valorising your skills on a job market extended to the whole of Europe.

Situated at the intersection of the Latin and Germanic worlds, at the centre of the triangle formed by the capitals of Europe, the University of Liège is committed to increasing yet more the synergies with its partners within the Greater Region and the Euregio Meuse-Rhine.

If the University of Liège certainly did not wait for the "Bologna" Decree to establish numerous academic, scientific and industrial partnerships, it intends to profit from the harmonisation of systems to open up new horizons for its students and researchers, in Europe of course but also throughout the rest of the world.

The possibilities of studying abroad will thus increase, thus developing your chances of strengthening your knowledge of one or more foreign languages, to be confronted with another civilisation, another culture and to polish your education in relation to your specialisation.

They will enable the ULg to make of you, along with you, a tolerant citizen, capable of being integrated within the vast economic and cultural space of the Europe of tomorrow.
(Willy LEGROS, ULg Rector, Quinzième Jour du Mois, n°113, 24 April - 21 May 2002)

With the aim of adapting to the job market, in an international context which is more and more seeking total quality, the University of Liège is permanently adapting and evolving. Open to the European Higher Education Area, attentive to mutual recognition and academic mobility, keen to make cultural diversity a supplementary strength to the benefit of its students, the University of Liège is becoming an international university.

ErasmusMobility

In the Faculty of Sciences a study stay abroad is thus possible. The Socrates-Erasmus Programme gives you the opportunity to go and study in one of the ULg’s 461 European partner universities. The courses taken abroad are recognised as forming an integral part of your curriculum in order to gain your university degree. The travel costs are paid by the University and a grant is awarded to you depending on the financial situation of your parents. The length of the study stay can vary from three months to a maximum of one year.
